  1. When does official registration open & close? 3/1 - 4/15

    Early bird registration- 3/1 - 3/15 ($50 off)

  2. What is the membership fee and what does it go towards?

    Single tour membership - $400

    Multi-tour memberships:

    2 tours: $650

    3 tours: $900

    Membership fee goes towards scoring software, event payouts, regular season flight champions, championship day purse and website maintenance

  3. Is a specific handicap index required to join? Yes, a USGA/CDGA handicap index is required

  4. Can I still join if I don’t have a USGA/CDGA handicap? Yes, we’ll set you up with CDGA to get a membership upon registering. Those joining the tour without an established handicap will be flighted separately. Once you’ve established 3 rounds (54 holes) a handicap will begin to trend. The CGT uses the same USGA/WHS (fewer than 20 rounds) chart seen here: (Calculation of Handicap Index)

  5. How do we book tee times and who pays for green fees? Members are responsible for booking their own tee times and paying their own greens fee so that you can play as much or as little as your schedule allows

  6. If I join the South Side Tour, can I play with a friend who is on the West Side Tour? Yes, cross tour attesting is allowed - play with CGT members from our other tours and have your score attested to, or vice versa

  7. How will the tour ensure scores are properly attested? Members will be required to play each round with at least one other CGT member to properly attest scores. There will be special attestation rules in place for major events & playoffs where playing with a new attester is required. The CGT also utilizes Cap Patrol, a handicap committee management and peer-review system designed to promote fair and honest play for everyone

  8. What are the handicap flights? *Estimated flights
    A Flight - 0-5
    B Flight - 5.1-10
    C Flight - 10.1-14
    D Flight - 14.1-18
    E Flight - 18+

    Establishing handicap - new members who come in without a handicap will play at a 0 until 3 rounds (54 holes) are posted to your CDGA account, a handicap will then begin to trend & you’ll be placed into a flight based on said handicap

  9. What are the payouts? Event payouts (gross & net per flight), regular season flight champions & championship day purse

  10. Are there designated tees for seniors & higher handicaps? Yes, there are designated tees for seniors 55+ & 60+. D & E Flight members have the ‘option’ to play from the 55+ senior tees

  11. Do I have to play in each event? No, you play as much or as little as your schedules allows. Points are earned based on the completion of said event. A minimum of 6 events are required to make the playoffs

  12. I don’t know anyone on the CGT, can I still join? Yes, members can utilize our CGT Slack network - instant message with other members & tour directors. The CGT tee sheet is also available for members looking to pair up/looking for an attester

  13. If I miss an event can I make up it at a later date? No, all scores are final once said event has closed. You must play & post your score within the 2 week event window

  14. Will playing on the CGT affect my amateur status? No. During registration you’ll have the option to choose if you’d like to keep amateur status or play as a non-amateur

  15. What is the benefit of playing in something like this? Schedule flexibility, competitiveness, networking, playing the very best public & semi private courses Chicagoland has to offer, a reason to get together with family & friends and access to a community of like minded golfers.
